The
Licking County Fraternal Order of
Police Lodge # 127 was officially
founded on
01-16-1977. The Lodge was
established as a fraternal
organization for all full-time law
enforcement officers in Licking
County.
The Lodge was also established to
further the cause of law enforcement
officers to obtain collective
bargaining. Collective
bargaining legislation passed in
Ohio in 1983, and was in effect in
1984. At that time FOP # 127
assisted in negotiating the new
contracts for local law enforcement
that were eligible for collective
bargaining. Currently there
are five agencies in Licking County
that fall under the guidelines of
collective bargaining. They
are the following: City of
Newark Police Department, City of
Heath Police Department, City of
Pataskala Police Department, the
Licking County Sheriff's Office and
the Village of Granville Police
Department.
Newark, Heath, Pataskala are
represented by the Licking County
Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #
127. LCSO is not represented
by the FOP, but some of the deputies
choose to still be members of our
Local FOP Lodge # 127. After
the last census, Granville became
eligible for collective bargaining.
The details of that are still being
worked out.
FOP Lodge # 127 has always been
involved with the communities of
Licking County and we plan to
continue our involvement. Some
of the ways FOP Lodge # 127 has been
involved include: sponsoring a
baseball team at Mound City Little
League, supporting the Police
Athletic League, Race Relations
Research, Newark Area War on Drugs,
Camp O'Bannon, Licking County
Foundation / Dupler Brothers
Scholarship Fund, Licking County
Joint Vocational School Criminal
Justice Program, Community Health,
Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Newark Downtown Alliance, Licking
County Courthouse Christmas Lighting
Fund, Families Helping Families,
Children's Hospital, VFW Memorial
Fund, Wheels for C.R., "Get Behind
the Bade", Police Unity Tour, FOP/FOPA
Softball Teams (male and co-ed),
Fallen Officers Memorial Softball
Tournament, and memorializing fallen
officers from around the State of
Ohio.
The Licking County Fraternal Order
of Police is located at 255 South
6th Street in Newark, Ohio. The Lodge
owns the entire building. In the
Beasley Lunge we offer a bar,
computerized jukebox, pool table,
three large TV's, a Golden Tee golf
video game, 22 foot shuffleboard
table, an outdoor covered patio, a
huge U-shaped bar, and a pleasant
place to socialize with other FOP
members and friends of FOP members (FOPA).
Some of the annual events we have at
the Beasley Lounge include a St.
Patrick's Day Party, Halloween
Party, Christmas Party, and we are
always open early on Saturdays for
the Ohio State football games.
